Next, in our Introducing the BioAnalyt Team series, we spotlight Thomas Trautwein, a member of our Production team. Thomas was born in Haldensleben, a medieval town situated on the Ohre river in the Saxony-Anhalt region of Germany. The town is home to the estates of famous German industrialist Johann Gottlob Nathusius who established businesses including; ceramic making, breweries, flour mills in the town and its environs. When Thomas was five years old, his family moved to Bücknitz, a small town in the Brandenburg region of Germany.
Thomas went to school in Ziesar, a town close to Bücknitz, and after high school, he proceeded to train for two more years as a biology technical assistant. Upon completion, he had some difficulties getting a job as a biology technical assistant since he had little job experience in that field. This made him work for about eight months in a water and sanitation company in Brandenburg. Undeterred, Thomas continued to look for a job in his field of study. He found a job advertisement from BioAnalyt for a Production Assistant on a popular German job portal and applied for the position. Thomas excelled during the interview and working trial. He joined the BioAnalyt Production team in October 2020 as a Production Assistant.
At BioAnalyt, Thomas works in the Production team. He helps to produce iCheck devices and reagent vials (or test kits). Thomas enjoys working at BioAnalyt. He says, “I felt immediately at home from the very first day I arrived at BioAnalyt, and I have a great team who cares about me. Working in the Production team is never boring since I get to work on a variety of tasks. I may not get a hold of each task initially, but over time with practice, the task becomes easier. If I make a mistake in my task, my team takes the time to teach me the right processes and to help me improve professionally. The variety of tasks, friendly team, and great working environment make me appreciate BioAnalyt the more.” When asked what motivates him at his work, Thomas says, “I am motivated by the BioAnalyt team. I see a great deal of dedication my other colleagues put in their work, and this motivates me to put in my maximum efforts to the work I do”.
Outside of work, Thomas enjoys going fishing. He also likes to play volleyball with his friends and hopes to join a volleyball club soon. If you are in Berlin and would like to learn some tips on how to fish, pass by BioAnalyt. Thomas is the right man to see!
