6 November 2020. The Second Global Summit on Food Fortification will take place online this year, and will precede the Micronutrient Forum event. This high-level political event is being organized with the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, DSM, UNICEF, the World Food Programme, and other prominent players in the sector. The Summit is a focal point of worldwide efforts to invigorate interest, awareness, and investment in large-scale food fortification and biofortification – two population-based interventions with enormous potential to reduce and prevent micronutrient deficiencies globally. 4 December 2019 - Nairobi, KENYA The TechnoServe Program, Strengthening African Processors of Fortified Foods (SAPFF) in collaboration with the African Milling School (AMS) will facilitate training on flour fortification on the 4th of December 2019. We are happy to partner with TechnoServe and provide training on "Food safety, standards and regulations on fortified maize and wheat flour" alongside KEBS. 19 November 2019 - Mexico City, MEXICO BioAnalyt and Changing Markets partnered to provide Mexico's Food Control Agency, COFEPRIS, with several iCheck Iron devices to improve their regulatory monitoring. Corey Luthringer presented the basics of regulatory monitoring during a press conference in Mexico on 19th of November, alongside Ana Larrañaga of Salud Critica and Salvador Villalpando of the National Institute of Public Health.

BioAnalyt will be presenting at AOAC International Sub-Saharan Africa Section Annual Meeting and Exhibition its current analytical solutions, developments and initiatives to support regional training capacity. The AOAC Sub-Saharan Africa Section is a sub-organisation of the AOAC INTERNATIONAL. 17 - 19 September 2019 - Lagos & Owerri, NIGERIA Strengthening African Processors of Fortified Foods SAPFF Workshops, convened by TechnoServe in partnership with BASF and BioAnalyt, will take place in Lagos and Owerri, Nigeria on 17 & 19th of September 2019. Vegetable oil fortification is one of the most cost-effective strategies to reduce vitamin A deficiency in humans – a main cause behind infant mortality, weak immune systems and night blindness with all its consequences, affecting 16 million children in Nigeria.Two regional workshops will take place for Edible Oil processors to improve their capacity to produce fortified foods in order to ensure that people receive the nutrients they need to improve their quality of life.

3 - 6 September 2019 - Leipzig, GERMANY. After 25 years, the International Symposium on Ruminant Physiology will again be taking place in Germany in September 2019. Every five years, the ISRP provides a great opportunity to present the state-of-the-art thinking and practice in ruminant physiology to an international audience of specialists. The topics of the meeting include the physiology of the gastrointestinal tract, intermediate metabolism and its regulation, reproduction and lactation, requirements for animal housing in view of climate change, and ruminants as a subject for comparative physiology. 13 - 17  May 2019 - MUNICH, GERMANY. BioAnalyt is one of eight companies which have been shortlisted out of about 900 applications for the WFP Innovation Bootcamp  in Munich, Germany. This Innovation Bootcamp which is sponsored by Cargill, will be held at the WFP Innovation Accelerator in Munich. Selected teams will deep dive field-level challenges, ideate solutions and refine project plans. The participants will also be introduced to cutting-edge innovation techniques, such as human-centered design and lean start-up methodologies. The intense, week-long bootcamp culminates with Pitch Night which creates an  ideal opportunity for teams to share their solutions with an audience of investors and industry leaders who can help them bring the innovations to scale. In this bootcamp BioAnalyt will embark on an intensive 5-day journey with guidance from mentors with deep knowledge and expertise in technology, business and innovation to ideate solutions, and refine our innovative solution in contribution to the fulfillment of SDG 2 of Zero Hunger. 24 - 25  April 2019 - MUNICH, GERMANY. In late April, BioAnalyt participated in a challenge workshop hosted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and WFP Innovation Accelerator. The goal of the workshop was to critically assess the root causes of failure in the quality of fortified foods and brainstorm innovative solutions to overcome these challenges. The workshop used a design-thinking format, which helped the group to develop a collective understanding and converge on solution spaces to improve impact. BioAnalyt’s Dr. Anna Zhenchuk participated in this workshop and provided critical thinking around challenges faced in lab capacity and food testing as well as data management and communication. The workshop concluded with the key 5 bold steps that need to take place along the food fortification value chain and you can read the full workshop report here. BioAnalyt will be contributing to capturing  quality data with our Connected iCheck and local training centers. We look forward to sharing more details of new alliances and solutions soon!  

26th March 2019, CAIRO, EGYPT A conference "Reviving the flour fortification program in Egypt" is organized by Mülhenchemie in cooperation with BioAnalyt, Food fortification Initiative and World Food Programme. The conference goal is re-activate the discussion with all relevant stakeholders about the fortification of wheat flour in Egypt with crucial micronutrients in order to combat micronutrient deficiencies.

27th February - 1st March 2019, STUTTGART, GERMANY The 4th International Congress Hidden Hunger taking place in 2019 will bring together members of different disciplines: nutritionists, agricultural scientists, economists and sociologists. Moreover, the congress will encourage the dialogue between scientists, policy-makers and representatives of non-governmental organizations and the private sector. It is dedicated to review the available evidence on the double burden problem, present new research findings on underlying causes and consequences, feature innovative strategies and discuss the roles and responsibilities of governments, development organizations, civil society and the private sector in combating the double burden of malnutrition.

Sector-Wide Training organized by SAPFF will address the Fundamental and Sustainable Approaches to New Product Development in the Nigerian Food Processing Sector. The “Strengthening African Processors of Fortified Foods” (SAPFF) is an initiative funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and is being implemented in Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania. The project aims to improve competitiveness of Food processors in the aforementioned countries and improve their capacity to produce and distribute fortified foods to local markets in order to ensure that consumers receive the essential nutrients they need to improve their quality of life. 16 - 17 October 2018 - NAIROBI, KENYA. BioAnalyt is excited to be back in Kenya so soon after the sector-wide training for wheat and maize flour with Africa Milling School and TechnoServe, which took place in August 2018. This time we will attend the first Nutrition Africa Investor Forum (NAIF) which will take place in Nairobi on the 16th and 17th of October this year. It will be focused on enhancing nutrition across Africa, the development of the food value chain and the engagement of the private sector as its key driver. The training covered key aspects of food fortification monitoring and hands-on practice with iCheck devices used to measure quantities of vitamins and minerals in foods.

26th- 27th April 2017 - LONDON, UK To address this specific challenge of defining a harmonized approach to fortification compliance that takes into account the reality of limited resources, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Project Healthy Children (PHC), and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) convened a Technical Consultation Meeting from 26-27 April 2017 in London. The organizing institutions proposed priority topics and meeting facilitators refined these topics through a consultative process prior to the meeting. The Technical Consultation brought together 35 technical experts and national program leaders with varied experience in the implementation and monitoring of national-level fortification programs.
