Can I measure other Vitamins in food such as B, C and E, as well as other minerals with iCheck? I’d like to start measure the nutrition content in the fresh produce that I grow. Do you have food growers using iCheck in the way I intend?

No, we only have test kits to measure: vitamin A, total carotenoids, iron, iodine and zinc.

Can iCheck measure enzymes?

No, it can’t. iCheck can only measure vitamin A, total carotenoids, iron, zinc, and iodine.

Carotene

Can I use iCheck Egg Equipment with the Test Kit Carotene?

For the analysis of total carotenoids (TC) in egg you can use your iCheck Egg. New iCheck Carotene and Carotene reagent vials can also ne used for measurement of TC in egg. You need additionally iCheck Carotene Egg Preparation Kit.
For the analysis of total carotenoids in salmon flesh you can use the iCheck Aqua and now also the iCheck Carotene.

Can I use iCheck Aqua Equipment with the Test Kit Carotene?

Which form of carotenoids can be measured?

iCheck Carotene works like a lab photometer and measures all carotenoids such as beta-carotene, asthaxanthin, lutein, canthaxanthin. The software quantifies the concentration based on beta-carotene calibration.

What carotenoids do we measure in tomatoes and/or tomato juice?

The application has not been validated. iCheck Carotene measures total carotenoids. In tomato or tomato juice there are carotenoids such as lycopene and beta-carotene. The device will therefore show you the result in total carotenoids (lycopene + beta-carotene).

iCheck Chroma (Chroma 3) measures retinyl palmitate, a common type of vitamin A added to refined edible oil.

Fluoro

Which form of vitamin A can be measured?

iCheck Fluoro measures both retinyl palmitate and retinyl acetate – the 2 most common vitamin A fortificants. In animal products like milk and blood vitamin A is present as retinyl ester and can also be analyzed by iCheck Fluoro.

Can I measure vitamin A, zinc and iron in rice kernels with iCheck? If yes, how can I do the sample preparation?

Theoretically it is possible to measure the micronutrients with iCheck in rice kernel. However no validation study has been done and no sample preparation protocol is available. A Proof-of-concept study can be initiated on request from customer. A POC has been performed with extruded rice fortified with ferric pyrophosphate. iCheck Iron test kit cannot be used to measure extruded rice with available sample preparation protocol.

Zinc

My Zinc Standard value is outside the range. What should I do?

If the measured Zinc Standard value is outside of the range indicated on the casing of the Zinc Standard, measure again. If the value is out of range again, please contact BioAnalyt Support.
