iCheck Carotene works like a lab photometer and measures all carotenoids such as beta-carotene, asthaxanthin, lutein, canthaxanthin. The software quantifies the concentration based on beta-carotene calibration.
The application has not been validated. iCheck Carotene measures total carotenoids. In tomato or tomato juice there are carotenoids such as lycopene and beta-carotene. The device will therefore show you the result in total carotenoids (lycopene + beta-carotene).

Theoretically it is possible to measure the micronutrients with iCheck in rice kernel. However no validation study has been done and no sample preparation protocol is available. A Proof-of-concept study can be initiated on request from customer. A POC has been performed with extruded rice fortified with ferric pyrophosphate. iCheck Iron test kit cannot be used to measure extruded rice with available sample preparation protocol.
Iron
A POC has been performed with extruded rice fortified with ferric pyrophosphate. iCheck Iron test kit cannot be used to measure extruded rice with available sample preparation protocol.
