iCheck™ and iEx™ Sudan

In recent years, repeatedly health authorities found Sudan dyes in food such as Sudan IV as a colourant in eggs. Sudan dyes consist of a number of red chemical compounds namely Sudan I, II, III and IV. Since Sudan dyes may cause cancer in experimental animals and may damage genes, they have been banned from food in Europe and other countries. In order to facilitate the detection of Sudan IV in food such as eggs, BioAnalyt developed in cooperation with DSM, a new quality control tool: The iCheck and iEx Sudan test kit.

It allows a quick and reliable detection of the substance. The test kit was designed in response to scandals in Europe and China in 2005 and 2006 where certain food products (including eggs) were found to be tainted with Sudan Red dyes.
