New publication: iCheck Carotene is as good as HPLC (Oct. 2011)
In this publication iCheck Carotene for the analysis of ß-carotene in whole blood was compared to the golden standard method HPLC.
In 166 cows ß-carotene levels in plasma and blood were determined by HPLC as standard and compared with iCheck. As a result no differences were observed between both methods either measured in plasma or in blood (HPLC plasma vs iEx™ plasma: 4.23 vs 4.49 mg/L and HPLC plasma vs iEx™ blood: 3.46 mg/L vs. 3.67 mg/L). Both methods showed a very good agreement based on correlation coefficients of r2> 0.98. iCheck Carotene can therefore be used as a fast and precise method to assess blood levels of ß-carotene within minutes.
